According to the Company Descriptive Book, Henry Trout enlisted in the 110th Ohio on August 15, 1862 in Springfield, Ohio. He claimed he was 18 years old and enlisted for 3 years. According to the Company Muster-in Roll, which lists him as 19 years old, he was paid a bounty of $25.00 plus a premium of $2.00. He mustered in on October 3, 1862 at Camp Piqua near Piqua, Ohio.
Henry Trout mustered out on on June 25, 1865. During the course of Henry's service in the Ohio 110th Voluntary Infantry Regiment, 10 officers and 107 enlisted men were killed and mortally wounded. Additionally, 2 Officers and 111 Enlisted men died from disease. Henry Trout survived to muster out while 230 men were lost. Interestingly, his age was still listed as 18 years old.
